Some things I've learned working at a daycare center

Girls love to play dress up and wear pretty clothes!
Most boys also love to play dress up and wear girls' clothes. But the girls don't ever wear the boy clothes.

Boys can make anything into a gun.

Boys spend alot of time trying to make each other laugh.

Girls naturally play house and play with dolls.
Boys will play house with the girls when there are no other boys to play with.

When one child screams they all scream! Ditto with running!

Even at age two, girls go "potty" in pairs and wash their hands afterwards.
Boys never wash their hands after going potty until you tell them to.

Boys love to show you their muscles!

By the time children are 18 mos. old, they don't "need" pacifiers! No child in my Toddler Room (18 mos - 3 years old) uses a pacifier at daycare. They don't ask for one at naptime (and they fall asleep just fine) or even when they are upset. Why do parents stick one in their mouths as soon as they pick them up?

Children will always pay attention to you when you sing!

Kids are listening even when you don't think they are paying attention. They repeat alot of what they hear!

First week runny noses, second week goopy noses, third week cough....

Every child has their own little quirk.
